The International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO encourages its Member States to develop and update “State action plans”. The fourth edition of the “ICAO State Action Plan on the Reduction of CO2 Emissions from Aviation for Germany” has been submitted to ICAO in January 2025. The 2025 action plan for Germany contains an overview of the aviation sector, forecasts on CO2 emissions of international aviation, and in particular displays measures on emissions reductions in the areas of technology, sustainable aviation fuels, operations, market-based measures, and additional measures in the aviation system. It includes a European common section with emissions developments and common measures, as well as a complementary national section with an overview of the domestic aviation system and its developments, national committees and groups, research and development, and national actions and measures on the reduction of CO2 emissions from aviation in the different areas. |
