Germany and Israel launch digital dialogue

Wissing: “Israel is an indispensable partner in the digital sphere” / Prosor: “The basis for resilience, common values and a better future.”

Federal Minister for Digital Dr Volker Wissing and the Ambassador of Israel Ron Prosor today signed a joint declaration regarding the establishment of a digital dialogue. This declaration of intent lays the groundwork for enhancing digital policy cooperation between the two countries.

The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport and the Israel National Digital Agency have agreed to step up their exchanges on numerous topics. Priorities include artificial intelligence, quantum computing, cooperation between start-ups, e-government and digital identities. In addition, they aim to deepen the collaboration in existing scientific and private-sector initiatives and kick-start new collaborative ventures.

Federal Minister for Digital Dr Volker Wissing said:

As a digital pioneer and nation of start-ups, Israel is an indispensable partner for Germany when it comes to innovation and emerging technologies. We can benefit greatly from Israel’s expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital administration. Together, we aim to drive innovation, promote exchanges between German and Israeli companies and strengthen our economic cooperation on cutting-edge technologies. Enhancing our partnership is also a clear expression of our solidarity with Israel.

Ambassador of Israel Ron Prosor said:

This digital dialogue is not simply another format for talks – it is a game changer for the digital transformation. Israel and Germany are joining forces to play a pioneering role in key areas such as cybersecurity and digital administration. With our combined expertise, we not only keep pace with the future, we actively shape it.
But do not be fooled: this partnership is about much more than just technology. Germany and Israel are demonstrating what true allies do – we innovate, we cooperate and we drive progress together. Our message is clear: partnerships like ours are the basis for resilience, common values and a better future.

Why digital dialogues?

The international digital dialogues initiated by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport are a key instrument to enhance digital policy cooperation with third countries outside the EU. They provide a framework to align digital policy agendas, address matters of bilateral cooperation and develop common positions, thereby ensuring innovation-friendly framework conditions and inclusive opportunities to cooperate on the digital transformation. The work spans several digitalization topics, such as data policy and internet governance, industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, IT security, network access, development of 6G, quantum technology and promotion of start-ups.

The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport now has digital dialogues with a total of eleven states, including the newly launched dialogue with Israel. The other partner countries are Brazil, Ghana, the United Kingdom, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Mexico and Singapore.
